falling whistles comes to s.a.s.
Sean Carasso of Falling Whistles shared his stories with the community this morning. His stories were hilarious and heartbreaking and INSPIRING. This page is available as a place for all in the community who would like to build on this experience ... discussing, planning projects, sharing information ... anyway you choose. If you need an invitation to get online and post to this site just email your request to jjones@sasweb.org.

Sean was an amazing speaker. If only we could all learn to speak our convictions as energetically, eloquently, and entertainingly.
ReplyDeleteI also really appreciated his comments after Chapel. He encouraged interested students to learn more, even though that doesn't always seem like action, and to become advocates. So often, we are told that the solution is a donation or a volunteer hour. That helps, but until we deeply understand the problems that face our world and the intricate ways that our purchases and government policies help or harm, we will always only be putting on band-aids.
Thanks to Bude and Elizabeth Wilson for bringing Sean to us.
Volunteer help? I think that is something interesting to looking into for the students. I know I am interested. Possible a spring break trip.
ReplyDeleteI think a volunteer spring break trip is a fabulous idea! I don't know how feasible it would be, or if we could relate it to Falling Whistles because of safety issues involved, but I'd be all for it if we could make it happen!
ReplyDeleteSelina we are on the same page. I just don't know what the cost of something like that would be and where this opperitunies would be.
